CSV split workflow

Split a large CSV file without losing the header row

Large exports are often too big for a target system or spreadsheet tool. Split by row count while keeping every part usable on its own.

01

Split with the destination in mind

Choose a row count that fits the limits of the system receiving the file.

1

Load the large CSV

Select the file that needs to be divided.

2

Set the rows per part

Match the limit of the import tool or spreadsheet application.

3

Generate the parts

Confirm the header row appears in every generated file.

4

Download each part

Save the files in order for sequential import.

02

Choose how to split

  • By row count, for example 10,000 rows per part
  • By header preservation so every part stays importable
  • With a preview showing the number of parts before download
03

Common splitting mistakes

  • A part is missing the header row
  • A row is duplicated across two parts
  • The last part is much smaller than expected
  • File naming makes import order unclear
04

Keep parts usable

  • Confirm the total row count matches the original file
  • Name parts with a clear sequence number
  • Test one part in the destination system first
  • Keep the original file until every part is imported
05

Frequently asked questions

Does every part keep the header row?

Yes, when header preservation is enabled each part starts with the original header so all parts can be imported separately.

What is the recommended part size?

Around 10,000 rows per part works well for spreadsheet limits; you can choose any row count.

Can I split by a column value instead of row count?

Row-count splitting is supported. Column-value splitting is available in the CSV filter workflow with export per value.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Splitting runs locally in your browser.

06

Splitting happens on the device

The file is divided in the browser. Large exports are not sent to the application server for this operation.
